Freight still runs on phone calls and a register.
Loads are booked by phone, drivers are tracked by asking them, and nobody knows what a trip actually cost until well after it is over. It is one of the least digitised industries in the region, and one where the gain is immediate.
LitGrey has not delivered a logistics platform. Engineers on our team built fleet, dispatch and freight systems before joining, and that experience is theirs rather than the company’s — we would rather label it than blur it.
Sound familiar?
A week in this business.
If three or more of these are true, the problem is usually not the tools. It is that none of them talk to each other.
- Loads are allocated over the phone and written in a book
- Driver location is established by calling the driver
- Trip profitability is worked out afterwards, if at all
- Fuel, maintenance and detention costs are recorded separately or not at all
- Customers ring the office because there is nowhere else to ask
What we’d build
The parts that matter here.
Which route
Configure something proven, or build it?
Most vendors answer this the way that suits them. Here is how it usually goes in this sector — and we will tell you plainly which side you are on.
Open-source ERP
Usually faster and cheaper
Fleet and inventory give a real head start, and for a smaller operation a configured package plus targeted extensions is usually the right call.
How we do thisCustom build
When the standard parts run out
Dispatch and trip costing are where standard modules run out, and where an operator with real volume usually needs something built.
How we do thisQuestions
- You say you have not built this. Why should we talk to you?
- Because we would rather you heard it from us than found out later. The people who would do the work have built freight systems before, and everything underneath — multi-tenant data, accounting, operating it afterwards — is what we do daily. If you want a vendor with ten logistics logos, we are not it.
- Our drivers are not technical.
- Then the driver-facing part has to be almost nothing: a phone, a few taps, works on a bad connection. That constraint shapes the whole design and it is better raised on day one than discovered at rollout.
