We built a school ERP from scratch. We know what schools actually need.
Enrolment, fees, attendance, results, and parents who want an answer now. The requirements barely change from one school to the next — which is exactly why so much school software is sold and so little of it fits.
Our own school ERP, Student Dynamics, is no longer in development or distribution. We are not selling it. What remains is the domain knowledge from building it — and most people implementing school software have never built one.
Sound familiar?
A week in this business.
If three or more of these are true, the problem is usually not the tools. It is that none of them talk to each other.
- Fee defaulters are found by going through a register by hand
- Attendance is on paper and reaches the office days later
- Results are assembled in spreadsheets every term
- Parents phone the office for things they could look up
- Each campus does it slightly differently and nothing consolidates
What we’d build
The parts that matter here.
Which route
Configure something proven, or build it?
Most vendors answer this the way that suits them. Here is how it usually goes in this sector — and we will tell you plainly which side you are on.
Open-source ERP
Usually faster and cheaper
Usually the right answer now. The requirements repeat across schools, so a configured package delivers in weeks at a fraction of a custom build — and having built one from the ground up, we know which parts need attention.
How we do thisCustom build
When the standard parts run out
Worth it for a large group with genuinely unusual academic or fee structures, or where an existing system has to be integrated rather than replaced.
How we do thisQuestions
- Can we buy Student Dynamics?
- No. Development and distribution have stopped and we would rather say so plainly than sell you something we are not maintaining. We deliver for schools as a service now — usually on Odoo, occasionally as a custom build.
- Then what is the advantage of using you?
- We have built the whole thing before. We know what fee defaulter tracking has to do in practice, why attendance always breaks, and which reports a principal actually opens. Most implementers are learning that on your project.
